Team Everett takes 1st place at UNK

The Everett Skittles chess team of Hana, Rodolfo, and James traveled to the UNK campus in Kearney to compete in their scholastic tournament. Team Everett took 1st place in elementary section with a very impressive 14 out of a possible 15 score. Players Rodolfo and James tied for 1st with a perfect score of 5, and Hana was right behind tying for 2nd with a score of 4. Way to go, team!

James and Rodolfo at the Merrick County Scholastic

Everett Skittles players James and Rodolfo traveled to Central City, Nebraska, to compete in the Merrick County Scholastic tournament. This tournament was open to all players K-12, and as it turned out they were the only kids there that were not in high school! Both James and Rodolfo each defeated two of the high school players to finish tied for 4th place overall, a tremendous accomplishment for elementary school kids. James beat Rodolfo on tiebreaks to win the 1st place elementary trophy, with Rodolfo getting a ribbon for 2nd place. Great job, James and Rodolfo!
